Christmas fun at Lockyer Libraries these school holidays
The Christmas School holidays are almost here, and Lockyer Valley Libraries is your one-stop-shop for activities and events to keep your children entertained throughout the summer break.
What’s on offer includes:
- Friday Christmas Movies - Gatton and Laidley, Friday 20 December, 10.30am. Bring your snacks and enjoy a Christmas movie on the big screen. Bookings not required.
- Family Movie and Bricks Fun - Gatton and Laidley, Friday 10 January, 17 January and 24 January at 10am. Bring the family along to a FREE movie at the library. Take along some snacks and enjoy a movie on the big screen while testing your building skills with our Lego bricks. Bookings not required.
- Scavenger Hunt - Gatton and Laidley, Monday 16 December to Friday 24 January (excluding Christmas closure), all day. Test your sleuthing skills! Go on a scavenger hunt and see if you can crack the code. Bookings not required.
- Christmas Craft - Laidley, Monday 16 December at 10am and Gatton, Thursday 19 December at 10am. Join our library staff to make a craft stick ornament to take home and hang on your tree. Bookings required. https://library.lockyervalley.qld.gov.au/Events
- Aboriginal Art Workshop With Vibrant Connection Designs - Wednesday 18 December, Laidley, 9.30am – 11am and Gatton, 2pm – 3.30pm. Izabella Steinhardt is a proud Gunggari women and local Indigenous artist who has been teaching children about aboriginal art since 2021. By engaging in this insightful Aboriginal artwork shop, your children can learn about Aboriginal art symbols and their meanings and create their own aboriginal artwork. Each student will get a small canvas to take home. This activity is for school aged children. Bookings required at library.lockyervalley.qld.gov.au/Events
- Spring Kids Art Workshops With Tinker Art - Laidley, Wednesday 22 January and Gatton, Thursday 23 January. Come along for Portrait Painting from 10am – 11.30am and Mixed Media Still Life Painting from 12pm – 1.30pm. Join Tinker art for these fun school holiday art workshops. Get creative painting colourful and fun canvases. Suitable for children aged five – 13 years. $10 per child. Bookings required: www.tinkerart.com.au
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Libraries and Galleries Portfolio Councillor Julie Reck said there really was something for everyone on offer.
“As the school holidays approach, we’re thrilled to unveil a lineup of activities and events happening around our region!
“There is something for everyone, perfect for families and children looking to enrich this break with educational, entertaining, and engaging experiences.
“Be it Christmas-themed activities, movies or reading, our team has a comprehensive list of events on offer to keep you busy and out of the heat this summer break,” she said.
