Council committed to walking the walk
Lockyer Valley Regional Council is committed to walking the walk – so much so that it has recently completed works to further boost accessibility and safety for its residents.
Council crews have put the finishing touches on footpath rehabilitation works on Eastern Drive, Gatton, near the caravan park.
Council’s Infrastructure Portfolio Councillor Michael Hagan said Council was committed to making these areas more pedestrian-friendly.
“Our crews demolished and removed the existing pathway and constructed a new footpath.
“This new 1.5-metre-wide footpath will allow pedestrians, including those in wheelchairs or pushing a pram, to walk safely and conveniently.
“Crews have also constructed two new landing and kerb ramps, and added wheel stops to improve pedestrian safety.
“It’s this type of infrastructure that makes our communities safer, happier and healthier.
“Council is pleased to deliver this all-important infrastructure and we have no doubt the community will benefit greatly from these works.
“We extend our thanks to the community for their patience throughout these works,” Cr Hagan said.
The footpath works are proudly funded by the Queensland Government’s 2024-27 South East Queensland Community Stimulus Program in association with Lockyer Valley Regional Council.
