SES information night
The Lockyer Valley’s SES unit is encouraging new volunteers to don orange overalls and lend a hand.
An information evening, to be held on Monday 31 March, will have members welcoming the community to see just what it’s like to be a volunteer with the service.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said this was your chance to be a part of something amazing.
“The Queensland State Emergency Service (SES) is a not-for-profit organisation formed from thousands of volunteers with a variety of backgrounds and professions.
“Disasters can strike at any time, and you never know when you might need a helping hand.
“It’s often in times like these when you rely on the SES to come to the rescue,” she said.
Mayor Milligan said the region’s SES were always on the lookout for more volunteers.
“The SES is focused on helping in storms, floods, search and rescues, road crash rescue operations and so much more.
“Regardless of your expertise, you can bring something beneficial to this team of hardworking and dedicated volunteers that respond to emergencies and disasters 24/7.
“Whether you are interested in learning new skills, meeting new people or becoming a part of a dedicated team, joining the SES is the perfect way to strengthen your skills while also giving back something special to the community.
“I encourage anyone interested in playing a pivotal role in the local community to volunteer as a member of SES,” Mayor Milligan said.
The SES information night will be held from 7pm – 8.30pm on 31 March at 2 Golf Links Drive, Gatton.
