Enjoy Youth Week 2025
If you’re aged 12 to 17, get ready to shoot hoops, picnic in the park and enjoy an art workshop to celebrate Youth Week in the Lockyer Valley.
A range of free events are set to run throughout Lockyer Valley Youth Week, as part of Queensland Youth Week which is held from 6 to 12 April 2025.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Community Development Portfolio Councillor Anthony Wilson said this was a time to celebrate the region’s youth and the amazing contributions they make to our community.
“We’ve partnered with several community organisations to hold a variety of Youth Week events, which I encourage all our younger community to attend.
“Youth Week is a great opportunity to celebrate our young people and everything they give to our community.
“Our younger residents play a vital part of our community, and we want to acknowledge the wonderful things they contribute to the Lockyer Valley,” he said.
The calendar of events will include:
- Picnic in the Park - Monday, 7 April from 1pm at the park located next to the Laidley Library. Come along for live music, food, games and to socialise with other like-minded youth. Entry is free.
- Hoops and Hangout - Wednesday, 9 April from 2pm - 5pm at the Gatton Skate Park. Celebrate the new half basketball court coming to Lake Apex, have a go on the inflatable soccer field, or test your skills at the skatepark. Entry is free.
- Art Workshop - Friday, 11 April at the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre (Davson Room). Three, one-hour workshops are available from 10am - 11am, 11.30am - 12.30pm and 1pm - 2pm. Entry is free, and registrations are required by Friday 4 April at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KYGTXK7. The workshop is entitled “Geometric Abstract Portraits” and will be facilitated by local artist, AJ Gogas Creative.
