Mosquito warning
Council is supporting West Moreton Health with its mosquito trapping program to help reduce the local risk of the Japanese encephalitis virus.
Following flooding, exposure to mosquito-borne diseases can increase. To reduce the risk of being bitten, residents are encouraged to wear protective clothing and apply insect repellent when going outside, especially at dawn and dusk.
Residents should also empty water-holding receptacles around their home, such as pot plant trays, bird baths, buckets and other containers and depressions, to reduce mosquito breeding grounds.
New date for Festival of Cultures
The Lockyer Valley Festival of Cultures will now be held on Sunday, 3 August – and that means registrations have been extended and will now close 5pm on Wednesday 30 April.
If you would like to hold an activity, information stall, cultural display, or cultural performance, register your interest via this link www.surveymonkey.com/r/YL6ZMNY
Physical copies of the form are available at both Gatton and Laidley Customer Service Centres.
