Grants available for local sport and recreation clubs
There’s good news for the region’s local sport and recreation clubs!
Lockyer Valley Regional Council will provide a one-off grant round available to local sport and recreation clubs – but Council’s Sport and Recreation Portfolio Councillor, Anthony Wilson said there’s one catch.
“Titled Sport for All in the Lockyer Valley, these grants are only available to those groups and clubs that are undertaking projects that enhance inclusive participation.
“What we’re really looking to achieve with this grant is to throw support behind projects with a specific focus on inclusivity.
“That means putting the spotlight on the underrepresented groups in sport and recreation, such as women/girls, seniors, people with disability and those from different cultures.
“You could be starting a new program, upgrading equipment, or looking to improve access.
“We’re hoping these grants will be a thought and conversation starter for club committees that will lead towards further changes to help them achieve their full potential.
“These grants build on the sports and recreation inclusivity program we’ve been running for the past year, which includes come-and-try days and capacity-building workshops for club committees.
“If your club is eligible, I encourage you to apply before it is too late,” Cr Wilson said.
Grants are available from $500 to $2000. Applications open on 23 April and close 11.59pm, Tuesday 20 May.
