Get your foot in the local housing market
To help address the housing shortage, Council will auction off the balance of land purchased for the Grantham Land Swap following the 2011 flood event.
The 14 residential lots, situated on Tryhorn and Engler streets in the flood-free Grantham Estate, are already individually registered and ready to build on.
Ranging in size from 1557m2 to just over 2000m2, the lots will be offered for sale individually via public auction on 27 November.

Grantham Flood Warning Siren test
Council will undertake a test activation of the Grantham Flood Warning Siren at 12pm on Sunday 1 December 2024. The test will include a siren tone followed by a verbal message informing people in low-lying areas to move to higher ground.
This is a good opportunity for community members to review their own evacuation plans and consider a range of alternative routes.
The siren was installed to alert the community to significant safety risks including loss of life. It is not used for low-level flooding in general.
Mount Sylvia rehabilitation works
Works have commenced along Blackfellow Creek to reduce the impacts on farmland and Mount Sylvia Road from severe flooding.
In partnership with Resilient Rivers SEQ, the $1.8M rehabilitation project will stabilise creekbanks, reduce erosion and improve flood resilience in Mount Sylvia and surrounding areas.
Over the next six months, approximately 12,000 tonnes of rock and 10,000 native trees and shrubs will be installed and planted across the three priority sites.
