Protect against mozzies
Mozzies aren’t just a pain in the neck – they can also carry serious mosquito-borne diseases like Ross River and Barmah Forest viruses.
To reduce the risk of being bitten following heavy rain, residents are encouraged to wear protective clothing and apply insect repellent when going outside, especially at dawn and dusk.
Where possible, the community is also urged to eliminate potential breeding sites around the home by emptying containers that may have filled with rainwater.
