International Women's Day (IWD), held annually, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group, or organisation specific.
The 2025 IWD theme is #AccelerateAction – Collectively, we can Accelerate Action for gender equality.
The Lockyer Valley Regional Council International Women's Day celebration breakfast commences at 7am with a light alternate drop breakfast by The Hen House Cafe, followed by an incredible presentation by our guest speaker, Kim Skubris. For 30 years Kim has pursued a career as a news broadcast journalist with the Seven Network in Australia and affiliate stations overseas. The mother of two boys lives in Brisbane and has been honoured with appointments as an Ambassador for Daniel Morcombe Foundation, National Ambassador for Act for Kids, Board member for Litehaus International and member of the Childrens Hosptial Foundations Legacy Advisory.
Everyone welcome! Doors open at 6:30am for a 7am start.
Multi-draw raffle tickets available on the day, all proceeds going to Lockyer Valley Salvation Army.
