Under the Queensland Housing and Homelessness Action Plan 2021-2025, the Queensland Government is funding councils to develop Local Housing Action Plans (LHAPs) that identify ways of addressing the specific housing needs of their communities. The release of Homes for Queenslanders plan on 6 February 2024, further supports this with a vision for a fair and sustainable housing system that ensures better housing outcomes both now and for future generations.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council adopted the Lockyer Valley Local Housing Action Plan at its Ordinary Council Meeting on Wednesday 18 September 2024.
The Lockyer Valley Local Housing Action Plan examines housing availability, the rental market, employee housing, social housing supply and specific housing requirements for aged care, disability, and domestic and family violence to determine the current and future housing needs in our region.
The plan enables Council to identify opportunities and prioritise actions to respond to immediate, emerging and longer-term housing challenges in our communities.
The plan is a living document and will continue to evolve as actions are progressed and priorities shift.
