BIOGRAPHY
Cr Julie Reck was elected at the Local Government election in March 2024 and is serving her first term on Council.
A Justice of the Peace and Funeral Celebrant, Cr Reck obtained her Diploma of Counselling in 2022. She met her husband while Acting Clerk of the Court of Katherine and has been married for 40 years. They share three children – two sons who are in the Australian Defence Force and a daughter who works in aged care.
In 2002, bushfires destroyed Cr Reck’s native fern business and she upskilled, becoming a paralegal involved in family law and child protection.
Cr Reck describes herself as a reliable and responsible person and sees being a Councillor as a full-time position.
Cr Reck holds strong ties to Murphys Creek and has been a member of the Murphys Creek Progress Association for 15 years. She was instrumental in Murphys Creek having its own ANZAC Day Service and liaised with Council and the community on the best way forward during the 2011 floods.
